COMMITTED TO MAYBE

My debut as a theatrical director

Fall of 2016

Staged in Toronto at the Alumnae Threatre Company

Committed to Maybe, written by Megan Hutton, is a comedy about two, single lesbian friends who decide to investigate on-line dating.

After Megan and I completed the filming of HUSH YOU, Committed To Maybe was selected by GayPlayDay, a festival of LGBTQ theatre.

My introduction to theatre was acting in three public school plays – long ago. Knowing one of my dreams was to act once again, Megan asked if I would be interested in acting in Committed to Maybe. After much consideration, I declined because the part didn’t feel right for me and I did not want to commit the time required to learn the lines. Undeterred, she asked if I would direct the play. While contemplating the time required and responsibilities of a director, I began researching and creating a storyboard. I accepted.

As with most new things I take on, I jumped into the director’s chair – learning on the fly. I asked questions and did a lot of reading and listening. I enjoyed the process and was truly proud of Samantha Lauzon and Jennifer Daniels for their amazing performances.

A big shout out to Megan for my first opportunity to direct a theatre project.
